Desensitizing and Conditioning Your Pet to Fireworks

dogs and fireworks 2

Too often pet owners think there is nothing can be done when their pets have adverse reactions to fireworks, thunder and lightening or loud bangs.  They and their pets suffer especially during times of the year when, despite all precautions, their pets are bombarded with this stimuli.  The situation can be very frustrating and hopeless.

Fortunately, there is help.

Participate in our fireworks course, be proactive and decrease the stress your pet experiences.

About the course:

This is a four week course, once a week for an hour session.
Sessions will be done online through Zoom.  There will be homework assigned after each discussion and video check-ins to be submitted by the students.

Cost of the course will be $100

In the course we will discussing the psychology of fear in dogs, classical conditioning, counter conditioning and systematic desensitization.  I will explain to you how to get your dog accustomed to fireworks and weekly assignments will be completed with set goals to get you and your dog on the path to being comfortable when hearing and seeing fireworks.

While these exercises will help your pet with fireworks, the theory can also be used to help with thunder and lightening, gun shots, cars backfiring or any similar stimuli.
