Basic Obedience Level One

A well trained dog is a happy dog.  Proper training in a stimulating environment sets the stage for a beautiful relationship between your family and your dog.  This course will help get you there.  Happy dog, happy owner…happy owner, happy home!

In this course, you will learn a combination of formal and informal obedience.  There will be a heavy emphasis on achieving effective and proper communication with your dog.

Owners and their dogs will be introduced to formal obedience commands; sits, downs, stands, sit stays, down stays and stand stays, heeling, turns, recalls and heel finishes.    We will also cover informal commands such as; leave it, quiet and focus exercises.  The introduction of these skills will be used as tools to develop proper communication patterns with your dog.

Skills are taught with both verbal and nonverbal cues using force free training and positive reinforcement techniques.  As with all of our program, you will be using both classical and operant conditioning and learning theory principles.

If owners are having individual issues with their dogs, these issues will also be dealt with at the owner’s request.

Questions are always welcome and feedback are encouraged and welcome.

The course is 8 weeks long, once a week for an hour.  Homework is prescribed every week with practical exercises to be completed at home.  Cost of the course is $275.

This is a fun course for both you and your dog.
